crush sleeve question

I may have over tightened the crush sleeve, I didn't read far enough ahead while installing my 4.11s and tightened the piss out of the pinion nut to seat the bearings and races, I did how ever end up with a good preload and gear mesh pattern. I've drove the truck for about 60 miles with no problems or noises. When I drove 20 miles and parked it the housing by the pinion was hot to the touch but I'm assuming it would be, its been driven a few more times back and forth to work about 10 miles each way and the heat is gone. Should I be worried about this or think all is well?

Just wondering if I would notice its not correct right away, or if this would be a slow killer. Wanting to know what I need to be looking for and checking as I drive and break it in.

Does it whine? If not dont worry about it.. I've done 50+ gear swaps and always reused the factory crush sleeve..

No whine, no odd noises at all! Sounds like I've done nothing at all to it. How long to you recommend waiting before giving it a little throttle?

I'd let it bump.. I drove mine to work almost a week just to give them a few good heat cycles. 30 mile round trip. Then Friday after work let it bump!

Ditto, wouldn't worry about it if it's all good. Baby it for 500 miles, change the oil and inspect the gears, then go to town. I reused my crush sleeve because the new one wouldn't crush, even with my 500 ft-lb impact gun.

If you measured the turning torque of the pinion, and that preload was correct, then you're just fine.

I reuse the stock one as well. When my 250lb ass couldnt crush a new sleeve hanging on a 5ft bar I said f it.

I'm 150 soaking wet and I crushed the piss out of it! I used pipe wrench to hold yoke and 12" breaker bar with another 12" pipe I had laying around. It took all I had but it crushed finally.

I'm curious to see what I find when I open it back up
