Converter won't seat onto input shaft..

Default Converter won't seat onto input shaft..

So I bought a coan triple disk converter for my 4l80e. If I leave the oring on the input shaft I can't get the converter to seat all the way in.. I've tried and tried.

remove the oring and it goes right in, however I believe it has to be there.

any help is appreciated....

I forget what it's called. They make a wax like substance that you can put on the oring to protect it during install, it's a tight fit and you don't want to damage it.

apply a little petroleum jelly on the oring and apply some pressure while rotating the converter. a lot of triple disk converters are really tight and can be a pain to fully seat fully.

I found that when compared to a stock input shaft the groove for the o ring was too small this stretching it out and making the outside diameter larger than the stock o ring on the stock input shaft. I ended up using one that's a **** hair thinner than what was supplied and it worked beautifully.

I haven't had tcc lockup in years and I suspect this is why.

Compared to an aftermarket input shaft???

Hit the hub with a rubber mallet while spinning the converter. It will seat eventually.

I ended up using a little lube on the o-ring and worked it for 20 plus minutes. finally got it in. Thanks for the advice.
