Most people at the parts houses have no idea what they are doing let alone the difference between an 01 caliper and an 05 caliper. I would just give them my old ones.

So reading over this it sounds like a great idea and I may have to do it on my truck. My only question is are the 05+ calipers larger than the 03 ones? Looking through pictures online I really can't see a difference, although seeing them in person may certainly help.

I've compared the two, they look slightly different but the overall size appears the same, including the pistons and pads. The guide pins are farther apart on the 05+ calipers so you must you use them with the 05+ caliper brackets.

So if I did this swap out an say wanted to go with the baer eradispeed an the like rotors would I order according to the new calipers or to the my current truck I like the Baer rotors for cosmetic and additional stopping force but mostly cosmetic lol as I dont feel like spending almost 5k in brakes for the truck just to have a showy brake package on my mostly daily driven show truck

If they are the same as my 2003 Tahoe, the '05 front calipers are larger and take 13" rotors instead of the '03's 12".

I did this swap with Baer 14" rotors and caliper brackets. But I used the 05+ front calipers and dual piston rears. Stops very well to say the least, but I do need to bleed the system some more I think.

I assume by what youre saying then that you ordered the eradispeed pre 05 rotors?

Here's a picture comparing the calipers and rotors. 99-04 on the left, 05+ on the right.
