I suggest to have the converter looked at. The hub may be damaged and the top rounded off and not engaging in the converter good, even though the clearance might be good. I would also suggest a billet rotor.....

I have used the same bell. I am using the original flexplate . The pump has been replaced not rebuilt. I sent the converter to tci to have them go through it. Where can I get a billet rotor for the pump

I personally would swap in a new flex plate and a new bell. Try to set your converter clearance to .125(1/8") and see what happens. I'll be honest here I'm not a big fan of TCI stalls and have seen some sick run out on them. However in your case you have broke pumps with two different converters.

Keep in mind you want to do this by looking at the pilot and the hub. When I have done this in the past I have chucked it in a lathe.

I have no access to a lathe I can't think of another good way to check it

Hey Vince, Gil, and Chris, do you feel that it would be worth bad cutt's time to see how much thrust that the crank has while he's in there?

Absolutely. That is something I would have think he would have already checked after the first couple pumps.

Vince is absolutely correct in suggesting that you have the hub runout checked on your converter. Vince you might be on to something regarding the dowels and overall alignment. If the pump is not centered the it will take out the pump for sure.

When this pump comes out can you get us some good pics of it disassembled? We might be able to see something that will lead us to the problem.

And most defininitely the crank thrust needs to be checked as well.
