Band clamp goo?

Default Band clamp goo?

I just recieved my band clamps in the mail today and they all have this little strip of black adhesive stuff with a plastic backing on it..

what does this do? am i better off taking it off?

That seals up the crack in the joint when you tighten it. If you take it off it will leak there.

X2, you get those from jegs? Same ones I have, leave the goo, works very well to seal it perfectly.
