Question Back to Disc Brakes???

Who makes a rear disc brake conversion kit for the 05 + silverados?
When I purchased my 05' VHO, I just couldn't believe that they stuck drum brakes back on them!! Sure they are strong, but at 14,000 mi had them turned due to rear pulsation during braking.
Now here at 16,000 mi they are at it AGAIN!!!
The drum brakes really suck!
What do I do to rid this problem without loosing braking power.
Put it this way, my 2000 silverado ECSB had 4-wheel discs with smooth stops, but braking power was lacking.
Now I have an 05' Silverado with disc/ drum combo that has pulsating stops, but superb braking power.
What would be needed to convert to a 05' SS rear disc set-up? Or whatever is better.

You might want to try using the disk brakes off a tahoe or suburan.

I"m not 100% sure of this, but you might just be able to backwards engineer a setup from the older NBS trucks that ran rear disc. Such as my 99' Silvy

I think that you could use the brakes of an older model truck just like W41quad4 said.

In the '05 they went to the 14 bolt rear end with traction assist and the drums. Would be nice to have the disc but do you want the headache that comes with the parking brake?

I'm thinking you can not just put disc brakes back on. The old original disc set-up on the rear was weak. I believe you have to change the brake booster as well.
Just need SS rear discs.

Default Rear Brakes on 2006

I was very disappointed to see rear drum brakes on my 2006 silver birch crew cab 1500.

My old 1999 Silverado has rear disks. Anyone know why this was changed?

Not even the service department knows. I will give a heads up on it though in my opinion.
GM had too many problems with the rear disc set-up. E-brake problems and right rear caliper sticking. Also the braking power was minimal.
So GM goes to a cheaper rear brake set-up while a better rear disc set-up is in the makes. The Disc/ Drum combo does have far superior braking power over the old rear disc set-up.
Those are just my opinions and thoughts on why they did this move to drums.

Nope, mine has drums in the back too. I actually didn't mine the drums cause I can fit 15" wheels/slicks out back.
