Default Automatic 4wd question

On late model automatic 4wd what happens when you switch from 4wd to 2wd under high load? Both the auto hubs and the transfer case try to change?

There are no auto hubs.

There is CAD. Center Axle Disconnect, it works like a shift fork to lock the passenger axle into power.

So is that thing such that it will disengage under load?

After reading up it sounds like the risk would be damaging the transfer case clutch pack. Wonder hiq it stands upbto higher horsepwers? It shares torque by slipping the clutch?

Yeh, I guess doing it to get down the track a few times is one thing, doing it reliably is something else. Im just curious, mine has a manual case. I launch in 4wd and leave it there.
