Adding 4l60e temp gauge/questions
 

Guys, I've read a lil on here about the temp gauges.

1. What's the best electrical one to get? Have link?
2. I guess it would be an external mount? Like under dash or gauge pod in a-pillar?
3. Is it best to install it into the test port on the side of tranny or is there a way to install into valvebody like factory?
4. How hard is this to do? I'll have the pan off to put the vette servo in.....

Personal preference. I like Autometer. I have the Phantom gauge because it matched my North Face gaugeface the best.

Yes, unless you want to be adventurous and install it into the I/P like I did, but mine is an '02. I don't know if that is possible on an '03+

Test port is fine. You could also weld a bung to the pan and install it like that. I have observed the same temps in both locations. Others talk of installing the sender into the cooler feed line.

On a scale of 1 to 5 wrenches (5=call the pros). I give it 2 wrenches.


You have another option of just replacing your current cluster with a cluster that has the tran temp built in. Denalis, Escalades and, I believe, HD models all came with factory tran temp gauge.

Just a second option....you could always get an Aeroforce gauge. Very easy hook up and you get a little more out of one gauge!

IMO get yourself a cluster that has the temp gauge in it..

not looking to spend a couple hundred on this, got way too many other mods planned

just google "aeroforce interceptor gauge" and it will come to their website where you can check it out. Except they run around 225 new i think. Could look for a used one as i see them every now and then.

damn, have a link to a regular autometer one? not sure where to look or which one will work.
