there is so much bad info out there. most magazines seem to think its a 30 spline with the same diameter as the 10 bolt.

I just measured one of the stockers from mine - 36mm, just a tad under 1 7/16"

If you couldnt find the correct info, You did not look hard enough. Before I built Pats I did a full break down and documented every thing I found out about the 14 bolt 9.5. I also linked all the build threads in my post
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=467473

If something specific is not listed Just ask I still have all the Parts!

I believe that if you have rear disk brakes, c-clips are ok.

I do know the disc will hold it in. I drove 20 miles slowly on mine when it broke. But it got to the point where it just over heated the brakes to fast so I had to tow it on a flat bed.

thanks for an actual answer. went through all those threads and nothing about the spline size. i'm just trying to see if the 9.5 axle is any bigger or smaller than the 10.5 axle. looks like the spline outer is a touch smaller but the minor diameter is bigger. not sure on the rest of the axle. still looking.

i'm wondering if the suv's put a bigger strain on the axle shafts than leaf trucks. a leaf truck has the leaf rather close to the axle tube ends. so more force is applied to the outer bearing than by the housing. where as the suv's have coil springs closer to the housing with the links close to the wheel. so when the suv squats hard it seems it would have more of a tendacy to push the axle tubes down near the housing. putting a harder bind on the axle shafts inside. i understand the axle shaft holds the weight of the vehicle in a SF rear. but if the axle tubes are being bowed then the ends of the axle shaft near the diff would have a huge amount of strain.
with that being said, would it benifit the rear to put a girdle/brace underneath from one side to the other all welded up to keep the tubes from bending or will simply welding the tubes to the housing take care of most of this?
