80e brake guys

Ok been doin some shopping an some researching. I plan on using a brake to launch @ 3600-4k in my 4x4 with a 200 shot from a dig. Track/street where ever I feel the need to unleash the dragon...

Here is my question the shifter being on the steering it's awkward and as hard as it will hit ill probly miss shift. So I want to put shifter in D3 and launch in first and let computer shift on target. Anyone know of one that I can do just that? I went to jakes website and got confused. Maybe I looked too far in it but I don't think so.

As for a converter I'm thinking of using a multi disk circle d again 258mm and having the stator ported and go with the looser 3b.

Anyone know of another place to compare prices with and what not?

Taken from Jake's 80e page,

"Our D3 transbrake allows for transbrake operation in any forward gear range. It requires transbrake activation for reverse. It works very well in automatic computer controlled applications because the shifter can be left in D3 and the controller shifts the transmission, instead of requiring the driver to shift from D1 after launch."

4L80E page

Sounds like the best option to me, if I was into drag racing I would have ordered my stage 2 with the D3 brake.

I've been looking at jakes too. Seems like everyone in the industry uses his brake so it must work. I'm trying to come up with 4K so I can buy his level 4 trans. SMH

Why exactly do you need a tbrake to launch your setup?

I have factory front brakes, suv rears, and hydroboost and I can hold 30psi on the foot brake on the line. Im sure 4x4 has a lot to do with it. You dont need a tbrake.

30psi with a torquey 408 at the light without moving? I gotta see a vid of this

My truck is vacuum still is 4x4 and is wanting to push thru at 2400. My combo is a larger cam set up for spray. The absolute main reason was so I can stall it up against the converter and launch at the track. And still run a tight enough converter to still tow with the truck. Just figured would be easier with a brake for me since I'm gonna build an 80e anyhow.

Mine holds at least 13-14psi, that's all it's at right now.

Same brake setup as Richard, hydroboost etc.

I can foot brake 14 psi too.
jake makes his own converters also....

So just hydro boost conversion and SUV rear brakes is what your runnin and it's able to hold it? More info? What all is needed for this. What rpm is is holding I need to leave at roughly 3500-3800 will this be able todo what I need to do?

I really need to do the hydroboost too... add it to the list:eyes:
