Default 8.6 rear end upgrade options

What are you guys doing to your 8.6 rear ends to make them stronger? I’ve got a 2000 Silverado with the 8.6 rear end making around 800 wheel (turbo LC9). Haven’t had any rear end issues yet, but it’s the next thing on the truck I want to spend some time on.I already have a Detroit Truetrac in it and have been going back and forth on whether to just put some forged axles in it or order axles with the C-clip eliminator kit from Got Torque. I haven’t really seen any other way to do a C-clip eliminator on these trucks besides their kit and it’s about $1300, so I’m debating if it’s worth spending that or just buying some $400 forged axles instead. The truck has rear disc brakes so technically if an axle broke it shouldn’t be able to come out anyway. If there are any other options people are running let me know. Buying a whole rear end isn’t really an option right now, and to me isn't worth the money.

Better axles, for sure. Especially if you've put a numerically higher ratio gear, and/or a torque converter, in it. C-clip eliminators won't keep an axle from breaking.

Yeh that's kind of what I was thinking too, maybe just putting some Moser axles in it and seeing how that does. I don't plan to change the gearing, I initially put 411 gears in it but I didn't like them, so I went back to 342's. I drive my truck on the street alot and didnt care for the high rpm on the interstate and I have a 4l60e built by frank so the lower gear ratio of the 60 gets off the line well enough, plus I have a brake. I have a circle d 258mm converter in it flashing around 3600.

Yeah...

Put a fence at the top of the cliff (axles less likely to break), not an ambulance at the bottom (keep em from coming out after they do)
