6-Speed ZF S6-650 transmission Swap
#71
Hi I'm new to the forum and I've been reading this thread for a while.... I am planning on doing this swap on my 2003 sierra 1500. In the near future I am going to put 37s on my truck. With the 4L60E I would need to upgrade from 3.73s to 4.88s. But with the ZF6 would I need to change them? I only ask this because the 1st gear in the ZF6 is a lot lower than the 4L60E.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not to mention, what are you going to do with the 10bolts and CVs. They won't like 37s at all.

The OP used an input shaft that is available for the NP246 (and 241) because those transfers were used in Dodge trucks. I'm not sure that shaft is available for the NP263. I never checked because the cost of the shaft, the time to put it in, and the age of my NP263 convinced me to pop the extra $600 for the NP263XHD which is a good bit stronger. Outstanding write up! I have a 2000 GMC ccsb (454, nv4500, 4wd) that I bought new, and am now in process of replacing the frame, thanks to east coast termintes. Putting a zf6 in has been rolling around the back of my mind for awhile, and this thread answered quite a few questions.
Thanks again!

hi dear
The tccm with a auto trac 246 needs to see a neutral/park signal from the ecm in order to allow a 4 low shift. It communicates via class 2 serial data and I have the neutral safety switch that was on the side of the 4l60 plugged in and in neutral and am still unable to get the t-case in 4 low. I was wondering if anyone else had done the swap and how they solved the issue.
good news finally I solved the problem and my np246 transfer case work good with all options it is easy 👍🏻👍🏻
