With the 4L60E I would need to upgrade from 3.73s to 4.88s. But with the ZF6 would I need to change them? I only ask this because the 1st gear in the ZF6 is a lot lower than the 4L60E.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
1st is a lot lower in ZF6. 37s would be stretch though. Also gears are a lot cheaper than a ZF6. With ZF6 your looking at 2k+ for the trans, several hundred to make your transfer work or another 1k+ for the 263XHD transfer, clutch parts are another 500+. It will hold twice the HP of the 60, but I would not do it just to avoid gears.

Not to mention, what are you going to do with the 10bolts and CVs. They won't like 37s at all.

The OP used an input shaft that is available for the NP246 (and 241) because those transfers were used in Dodge trucks. I'm not sure that shaft is available for the NP263. I never checked because the cost of the shaft, the time to put it in, and the age of my NP263 convinced me to pop the extra $600 for the NP263XHD which is a good bit stronger. Outstanding write up! I have a 2000 GMC ccsb (454, nv4500, 4wd) that I bought new, and am now in process of replacing the frame, thanks to east coast termintes. Putting a zf6 in has been rolling around the back of my mind for awhile, and this thread answered quite a few questions.

Thanks again!

Default Nv4500 6.o

Nice swap. The nv4500 will bolt up to the 6.0. Where can I find one without having a core. I found some places online that sell them but you need a core. Any suggestions

Have you looked on car-part.com or junkyarddog.com?
