Default 5.3 with early model 4l80e??

Ok guys im doing a 5.3 swap on my s10. I bought a 4l80e off of CL that was from a 1995 chevy van. I already know about the whole top bellhousing crap. (Just run 5 bolts) but besides the 6.0 flex plate should it work fine? Also what trans yoke would i need ive heard a TH400. (I plan on using a slip yoke). Also could i use my neutral safety switch off of my 2000 s10 4l60e? Not sure what exact model the 80e is but it has both trans cooler fittings right next to each other....

Yea the 80e will bolt up without the top bolt hole. As far as the neutral safety I'm not sure. So one may chime in also 98 to newer

Take a picture of the other side of the trans and post it. There are few things you need to look at here. One is the bosses for the neutral switch and the other is the bosses for the shifter cable bracket. Also make sure that you have a long linkage shaft in that trans to support the neutral switch.

Hey thats what i was looking at. It has all the pre-drilled threads the the neutral switch and the linkage bracket. On thing i did notice is the the shifter link thing has a nut on the end. Does that need to be removed if i put my neutral switch on? Its a little shorter than some trans's I see.

Remove the shifter shaft nut and lever. Your neutral switch indexes on the shaft so be careful to line up the shaft into the switch as you gently press it on. Secure it with two bolts front and aft and then reinstall the shift lever and nut.

Thats what im confused about. What exactly connects to the shift lever? And on this pic it looks like the boss is longer than mine.. they took their old equipment off of the 4l60e in this article that i got this pic from below. The trans below has the cooler fittings alot farther apart so im not sure which model it is.

Your going to need to install a long linkage shaft in that unit. Every thing else looks like it will work.

I made some stand off support straps to keep my nuetral switch in position. You'll need to swap the shift lever in the trans, which isn't to bad. Also a standard th400 slip yoke will work fine. If you want to manual shift, Jake's makes the plug and play manual trans control adapter.
