Default 5.3 TO 6.0 swap

Hey guys thanks for the add. I have an 05 suburban 1500 with the 5.3/4l60. I have access to a 03 gmc 2500hd with the 6.0/4l80. What would it take to swap engines and transmissions? I have access to the whole truck, so wire harness, gauge cluster, etc. Can I just swap computers? Or do I have to get the 5.3 one tuned?

If I remember correctly, all you need is motor and tranny. Then need to modify crossmember or buy one, repin harness , tune, and yoke shaft. On my truck I didn’t need to do anything with the driveshaft, don’t know about a surburban

Being that both are DBW you might just be able to use the 6.0 harness but keep your 5.3 computer and have that tuned for the swap.

A simple copy and paste from a 05 6.0 truck file to match your 05 year for the engine and then a segment swap for the transmission if you are using HP Tuners software.

Not the same generation engine. 2005 is a GEN 3 and 2008 is a GEN 4. The 2008 has different cam sensor location, knock sensor locations, different crank triggers and cam triggers. 2008 has VVT and all that jazz too.

It would not be a easy or quick swap. Find a LQ4 or LQ9 6.0 engine as those are direct swaps besides tuning.
