Default 4L80e Swap--Shift Linkage Too Long?

Quick question for those of you who have swapped a 4L80 into your trucks...I have mine installed in the truck and when I went to hook up the shifter cable to the actual shaft coming out of the trans the cable was too long. The transmission came with the shifter cable bracket that it clips into, but if I clip the cable into the bracket, the connector that goes on the shaft sticks out about an inch or so too long. Is there a way to adjust the cable to shorten it?

What bracket are you using on the transmission? I didn't have any issues like that.

It's the bracket that came on the 4L80...I'll take another look at it this afternoon and see if I am just missing something simple. I'll snap some pics if I don't figure it out.

Thanks for the quick feedback.

Same here...no issues with the cable/bracket when I did my swap.

Just for the sake of the conversation, the GM part number for the bracket is 15013290.

It should look like this:

yep, I'm pretty sure that is the bracket that was on the trans when I got it. There has to be an easy way to get it to work. Thanks fellas. I'll feed back if I get it figured out or if there are any problems still

You didn't monkey with the NSS switch did you? If that's messed up, I could see that being a possible issue.

I think that is where my problem lies. My new trans didn't come with a NSS. I ordered a new one for it because the NSS on my 4L60 cracked when I took the connectors out of it. When my new NSS comes in, I will have to put it on the 4L80 and see if I still have the problem. Right now I have been just trying to line up the cable to the actual metal linkage arm that rotates. The NSS is not on there right now.

Thats not helping any.

When end you get the new switch, don’t monkey with it. Install as is and see what happens.
