Default 4L80E Separator plate drilling

I need to pull my pan to do a fluid and filter change and I figured now would be a great time to re-drill for a more improved 3rd gear shift. I put an HD2 kit in when I build the transmission, but I misplaced the drill bits and the instructions for it. Does anyone have the drill bit sizes for the 3 shift pressures as well as a diagram of which checkball you have the option to remove for more direct clutch line pressure? I purchased an SK4L80E hoping it would come with the bits or a valvebody diagram but it didnt.

soft .076, average.086, firm .096, and off road, or high stall .120 and hole marked B is 3rd! pretty much smack center of the plate! lower left of small rectangle stacked over longer rectangle. sorry scanner not working.

Thanks, SuperSub, Hopefully someone will post up a scanned picture of the valvebody so I can see exactly where the feed hole is for the direct lines and whatever checkball is there for the hole. Im guessing I should go with a .096 bit for my slotted direct clutches and 2500 stall converter. It seems like the most mushy shift of them all; pathetic for a transgo.

If you are happy with all the shifts except the 2-3, just remove the 3rd checkball, right in the middle of the case. No drilling necessary.

Jake, Thats exactly the case. I think the problem also is that I installed the new piston return springs from the transgo kit for the direct drum but drilled the plate with an average bit or whatever the first level was. It's a mushy, un-feel-able shift and is more of a slide into gear at WOT. I actually added torque management back in to get some shift feel and lower the shift time (up to .9 sec @ wot, .5 normal, where all others are .1 maybe .2)

One new thing arose today after drilling larger for the 3rd gear hole and removing the checkball. I also installed the transgo boost valve in the pump. The problem im facing now, is that the forward clutches slip when starting out at anything more than light throttle, then first gear olds strong but slides into second almost unfeelably. Third is great now and the same story for fourth gear. All else is fine other than that.

EDIT: Fluid was nearly a quart low when refilling. That fixed the start out forward clutch slip problem completely. I then faced the problem of a soft 1>2, and 3>4 shift. I am running slotted clutches with kolene steels, so I needed to pull the separator plate back down and re-drill. I also changed the actuator(?) spring in the valvebody to the small diameter blue one that TransGo gives you for the 'even firmer' setting. In the end I drilled .078 for the 1>2, .094 for the 2>3, and .078 for the 3>4. The rest I smoothed out with the computer to give a crisp shift under light throttle and a decent tire chirp and possible fish tail on each shift @ WOT.

Pardon me for resurrecting a old thread, but I came across this while looking for an answer to my slow 2-3 shift on a stock 4L80E.

Will removing the #3 checkball on a 80E with no other mods speed up the 2-3 shift without causing any other undesirable actions? The trans has no issues, is behind a stock 6.0L in a 3500lb car, and the WOT 2-3 is very lazy. The 1-2 and 3-4 are nice and crisp, I'd like to have the 2-3 crisp as well.
