I just replaced the 4th clutch seals without the fancy $$ tools. What a bitch. I practiced 10 times with the old seals and my custom lip seal tools.

The old lip seals were hard to the touch. New ones nice and soft. The new ones went in damned easy!

I also put in the 4x4 output shaft and built up to the low roller clutch.

Using wood clamps is no longer possible to compress springs. Sonuvabitch! I can't afford a fancy tool so I got this Ebay special for $39.95.

We'll see how well it works.

Very impressed with your work man. I've done a lot of wrenching but building an 80e is certainly not one of those things. Subscribing to see how this turns out!

FUUUUUCK!!!

I was drilling the .055 hole to help with centrifugal apply ala "Jake/Atomic/BlackGMC..." when the ******* bit snapped off in the hole. I can't get it out. Shaking, tapping, glue on tip of toothpick, compressed air and so forth. The broken bit just rattles about and I can't chance it coming out while in an active trans.

So I drilled a second hole to see if my bits could do it and ordered another Ebay drum for $29.00. Uhhgggg.

1.5 holes!

Got the new direct drum and suggested cutting oil. Goddamn Chinese bits. I got it done though it took a good amount of time.

Thought i had all the time in the world with my truck, then life happened, triple bypass (year and a half ago at age of 37), then my buddy who was nice enough to let me use his garage, decided he was gonna leave his wife..... And told me 3 months after my surgery, i had two weeks to get everything out of the garage.... And then a month after that i get told im having another kid....Needless to say ive gotten her mostly back together but had to shortcut a few things in process (i.e. Torque converter, trans, headers, finishing the paint) someday ill get her right.... Good luck to you with this swap ive thought about 4l80e in mine but havent gotten to that point yet..
