When my truck shifts into OD, it makes a slight grinding noise and feels like it is binding when decelerating.. Could this be a converter???

Sounds like you are having OD planetary or OD roller failure. Possibly an issue with the overrun clutch. Vince

 

J, your fluid is clean, smells ok, i think it's just the converter. Besides, your not fast enough to blow that 80e

Good thing there are a couple of reasonably priced 80e converters 4 sale on the forum. Take it in on Mon and try not to stress too much buddy.

Just called the AAA. They are going to get the truck this morning. Called the trans shop and they are going to try to get to this afternoon. Hopefully it is nothing too costly. Debating whether to throw in a triple disk PI converter.

 

I say go for the best you can. My Yank is holding up so far (knock on wood) the PI would be sweet too!
Let me know what they find.
