4l80e problems

I have a 2002 Chevy 2500hd with the 6 liter in it with a 4l80e. The other day I hauled a skid loader and from going up hills it heated the trans up pretty good to about 250 degrees and since then it's been running hotter then normal at about 175 degrees. I tried replacing the factory front mount trans cooler with a larger one and did a fluid and filter change today and it is still running about 160 any ideas?

160 is nearly ideal. I'd be content with that.

I've been reading other places that the should run around 120

160 is perfect

Yep, 120 isn't even up to temp.

mine stays 120-130...when pulling it goes 160ish...bypass the radiator and put a larger trans cooler up front

I just went to leave work tonight and it seemed like reverse was slipping real bad.i guess it's time to start looking for a transmission

Out of curiosity... my 80e with the trucool 40k still plumbed through the radiator runs at 130ish going down the road... that's with a 4bt Cummins in a 7k # suv.... being 90+ outside. In traffic it'll come up to 150ish...

Is it OK to run that cool?

Sorry to be off topic
