4l80e lock up

hey guys finally got my lock up in my 4l80e fixed with a new trans. Old trans was all out of whack! Anyways, can i do away with the lock up? i run a FTI stall. With the old trans i had the wiring backwards when i done the 4l80e swap. Gas wasn't to bad to me with out it working, which i do more city driving every other weekend. I ran the last trans for over a year without it. Would it affect my new trans anyway without it?

Reason for not wanting it hooked up is it sounds way better to me without it. Seems to lock up early and it locks up in and out with changes in throttle. Just drives me crazy lol. Your thoughts are appreciated.

thanks.

You can easily tune out the lockup with a tuning program, or take it to a tuner. Set it up so only your tow/haul has lockup, then you have options.

Why not just keep the lock up. And have the tow haul set up so when press the button it won't lock up.that how my truck is tuned!(

Thin it wants to hold in third without OD. Gas would really suck thin lol

i would recommend just tuning the lockup tables, its way better to have a lockup in my opinion, just tune it to lock only at hwy speeds if you don't want it to lock up while you are cruising around.

ok that might be something to look into. Right now it locks up at 40 mph and truck sounds dead as hell with it that low. That is just to early in my opinion. What do yours usually lock up at? Maybe 60?

The more I drive it he better it seems. I think my lock up was never brokein in from it not wired correctly. Seems to lock up smoother now. Might just grow on me lol.

I agree with everyone, keep the lock up. Change the tune to only lockup in OD at highway speeds at the minimum. No sense in not using it if you have it. It will help with heat and mileage.

If you have tuning capabilities then tune the tables to your liking, I set my My 60e so it would not lock up till around 52 MPH.

If not then get with a tuner and have a live tune done to set up everything to your liking.

As mentioned leaving the lock up off will cause excessive heat in the trans and having it lock up too early is annoying as hell.
