Default 4L80E/circleD/HD2/ random TCC lockup

I've been road testing my new engine and 4l80E conversion and have noticed a problem with the TCC lockup. Sometimes it'll lock after a short while and sometimes it might take a few minutes of cruise to lock. The lockup speed varies as well, ranging from 45-65mph. It just seems to be very inconsistent. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? I've read that a misfire can cause this problem as well as a TCC valve but I haven't seen anyone with the exact problem yet. Thanks for any suggestions.

I know that trans temps might effect how soon it will lock up so that might be your first issue with it taking a while. As far as the mph difference your seeing that seems to be a tuning thing. I'm going to assume that certain parameters need to be met in order for this to happen. This might have something to do with it however I'm not a tuner!

It's been pretty cool outside here and I've been driving it pretty easy. I would think the lockup should occur withing seconds rather than minutes. I'm going to run the HPT scanner and try to lockup manually and see if it happens on command.

Mine does exactley the same thing, i guess its just an 80E thing??

I lowered my commanded lock up speeds, lowered TPS% , and still seem to get inconsistant lock up.

Subscribed.

I tried the same things, with no joy.

Ok, I ran HPtuners scanner on the transmission and the TCC locks up on command, regardless of gear or speed. That tells me the clutch is fine as well as the solenoid. I've tried another tune and so far no luck. Anyone else have any ideas how to get this thing locking and unlocking at the right time?

I agree its def a tuning issue as mine locks up on command also.

Just need to tweak on the tuning.

I have some settings to try from a good member here, i will try them and let ya know, post up if you find out anything!

OK, will do. I'm wondering if using tables for lower speeds and higher TPS would help. Also, gonna try tuning out the P0300 code.

I just read this on HPTuners:

You need to max all of the Misfire tables if you are going to run SD.
Also make the "Performance" Apply/Release tcc lockup tables the same as Normal and cruise.

Set p0300 to 3- No error reported.
You also need to go to Trans Diag > TCC Set Max Slip Rpm to 3000.

Gonna try these.
