Cool. I wouldnt even imagine the longer gear feels like a negative thing starting out.

You have the stock 3.73's in your truck right? It will make your 0-60 feel pretty bad *** being in all 1 gear haha

My truck has 4.10's stock, can't quite get to 60 in first with my gears, still working on the shift points but it looks like I'll be shifting it at 6300 @ 54mph. I cannot take credit for building this trans, my buddy Mark built it. I was present during the process to learn as much as I can but he built it.

The truth is the first gear in the 60e sucks , it's too quick and is worthless on a blown vehicle , the 80e first gear is pure perfection !!

Thats what I like to hear. I have driven trucks with an 80e before, but nothing LS based and its always hard to say when it drives so different anyway... it will be interesting when I finally get the swap done myself.

Did some more trans tuning to get it dialed in, this trans is so much nicer to drive then the 65E. The truck should have came with a 80E to begin with. Damn GM.

Thanks for the list of parts and pics! I'll be building something similar now.

Does it matter if the 80E is from a OBS going into a NBS?
