Default 2008 silverado. Did i "drop" my transmission or dmg it? Advice needed.

2008 single cab 4.8 (3,000 miles)

Was driving home from Galveston on I45 and a car on the entrance ramp cut me off so I was forced to slam on my breaks (damn f-150). Well I'm assuming my tranny shifted down to quickly or something but it didn't like that and made a loud banging sound at me.

Now when I start it up and put it into reverse and squeals for about half a second at me, not horrible but noticeable. And going from reverse to park will also get a little reaction out of the tranny (small knocking sound). It drives fine though, and is quite.

Not going to lie i feel pretty sick right now. I'm a college kid trying to pay off that brand new truck and now I'm thinking I already screwed something up...

What do you think? Should I go to the chevy dealer where i bought it and get them to "service" it. Don't know what they would do, doubt they'd take the time to take it apart and look at it. What a pain. What should i do ?

Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. Read it. Notching wont affect the warranty of the transmission
