Been reading tons of posts about lowering trucks im not sure if im reading to much but im confused on what works and what doesnt. seems to be several ways to drop one these day's and i just want to do it right the first time. i want a 2/4 drop and i want it to handle and ride like it supposed to i know ride quality suffers some when lowering but i dont want to feel like im in a coverd wagon from back in the day. so since a lot of you have been down this road and figured out what works and what doesnt any info you could share would be great.

anyone?

Like you said there are many ways to do this and every kit is different. I went with djm when I did my 4/6 drop and don't regret it all I feel as the ride quality got better (with stock tires and rims). It all depends basically on how you want to do it and the money being spent.

well i have coil spring front end should i just go with different springs, drop spindles, shackles for the back or new leafs? money is not really a factor i just want it right. i have factory 20's on it at the moment and those are plenty big i want the center of my wheel wells to be even with the top of the tire.im not wanting caster & camber issues and i want it to handle nice as well ill spend what it takes to get it done right!

If u are goin 2/4 I would get front drop spindles and put the silverado v6 coils in em (apperently they are softer?). The back u could do shackle/hanger kit or flip kit. Imo flip kit is better than shackles and hangers. C notch is a good way to get more weight transfer to the rear without hitting the bumpstops as easy. (which I am suffering from)

I have lCA's up front on mine I love how it feels. With those. But you wouldn't Ned that with just 2" so I think I would do springs if you want it too handle also. And for the rear if you can do a flip kit I'd go that route also

what year is the truck? i personally prefer djm and would do djm 2 lcas and i guess shackles and hangers. flip kit will lower you 6 inches in rear and you stated 4 inch drop. now on 99-06 trucks, difference in ride height from front and rear is like 3 inches so a 2-4 drop will leave you with a slight 1 inch rake which is fine if that (rake) is what you want. if you want it level, than i would say you need more like a 2-5 or 3-6 drop, 3 inch difference. another factor to consider is if the spare is in place or removed. that is about another 1 inch difference in the rear. yet another factor is if the factory rear bumper is in place or replaced with rollpan. using the recommended shocks can make a diference. not removing the front bumpstop is a common mistake and simple fix.

both my 01gmc and 08rado have djm kits.

i will be more than glad to help you so you can do it right the first time. sometimes we can misspend alot of money by not factoring in things that didnt cross our minds or assuming. feel free to give me a hollar. rob (956) 802-7700.

Hey thanks low2001gmc its a 2000 and it has the rear bumper and spare tire on it im planning on doing a roll pan eventually...im ok with a slight rake as long as its slight! ill look into a 2/5 djm kit lcas and hanger shackles im just hoping its not lower in the rear then in the front when its done.

Shackles are usually adjustable depending on brand. Mine have 3 holes each hole drops it one inch so if if it looks lower in the back take the bolt out n put it in a different hole.
