14 bolt housing? Where can I find one?
I'm looking for a 14 bolt housing from a 2005+ truck. Can't seem to find a part number or any online hehe. Ideas?

you mean the 14bolt, 9.5", SF, 6lug?

Yeppers. GM lists it for $1160... :bang:

Call your local gear(manual trannies and rearends) shop. They might have one laying around or have an idea about where to get one.

Check the interchange, that rear end was used in previous years. I would almost bet that even a OBS rearend would work. Check online salvage yards for a low mileage takeout. Get a 1 ton rear end and get some 4.56's.

If you find look you can find the 9.5" 14SF in 88-98 K1500's, they have the same WMS to WMS measurements that the current trucks need. The only thing is the spring perch will need to be moved. One from a 2wd wouldn't work, it'd be too narrow... unless you plan on tubbing the rear.

Have you tried car-part's website? They usually have one . . . Or LKQ Corp might have a used one . . .

I could have sworn that I saw somewhere that the NBS trucks 14 bolt rear was a 2nd generation design with improvements over the OBS 3/4 ton and 454SS 9.5" ring gear 14 bolt rear.
IIRC something about a stronger case???? I could be mistaken, or maybe it was a GM release that was hypeing up a minor change??? In 2004 the B4V VHO trucks used the 10 bolt 8.6" rear end, then in 2005 they switched up to the 14 bolt. Maybe the 10 bolt didnt like the Lq9's output??? peace Hog |
