Default 14 bolt diff swap

Ok i got a 2003 that Im wanting to do the 14 bolt swap into. I picked up the 14 bolt 6 lug out of like a 97 or so z71 that needs to be rebuilt. Well I came across a 14 bolt out of a 2001 1500hd but its 8 lug just wondering is there a way that i can swap the 8 lug axle or would it be just as cheap to rebuild the older one and mod it to work. Im running 4:56 gear at the min but the hd diff has 4:11 which i would be fine with that also.

Do a search in the same section you posted in I know I have seen a thread like this already but i think on a tahoe or maybe a truck like yours. I just cant seem to find it right now. Last time I stumbled into it by searching google images lol. I think they had to do some custom fabing but not totally sure. Im sure someone will chime in eventually and get you going...

Take the six lug axles and swap them into the 01 rear end. The 4:11s are great for the street, I love mine and wouldn't go any deeper imo.

So the 6 lug axle out of the 97 14 bolt is the same as the ones in the 2001? I think 4:11 would be fine i just like the 4:56 that I had but right now I got to spend the money wisey do have any to play with or to redo in few months lol. Thanks for all the advise. Evil thats a great big i just do have that kinda tools to do all the fabin lol. The 2001 is already disc brake so my stuff should just bolt right up and the 1in higher pad would be great that way i can delete the factory block they are 2in but i wanted to drop it 1 inch anyway. thanks
