10-Bolt 81-87 C10 vs 99-07 NBS Width?

Hey guys, wondering what the width differences are between the square body C10 10-bolts and a NBS 10-bolt? I've got a leaky 12-bolt in my 77 that basically can't be fixed, since it's spewing out of the plug weld. My diff shop and I agree it would be better to build up a 10-bolt since it will be getting a TruTrac, axles, all new bearings anyways. He says if possible that we'd use a 99+ 10-bolt core since the carrier and axle bearings are bigger, and we'll relocate the spring perches. Does anyone know if the housings themselves are the same length? I'll obviously be getting aftermarket Moser axles so I can keep my 5x5 bolt pattern.

In case anyone searches in the future, the answer is yes. The axle shafts are the same length 1977-2006 for 8.5/8.6 truck 10-bolts.

Why not burn out the old plug weld and re weld it?

That's an awful lot of work when you could do a 14SF 6lug from an OBS Z71 or W/T.

But, your money. 10 bolts and 4L60s have one place for me, and it's not under my truck
