4.56 gear for highway racing?

I'm very tempted to put 4.56 gears on my truck (RCSB 6.0/6l80 29") but EVERYONE tells me that it will absolutely suck at highway speeds (it's really lacking all around now with 3.42) is it really gonna be that bad because almost all the racing here is from a 50 with very few people willing to race from a dig.

My motors gonna be built in a few months to a 6.2 with a stealth cam and a 8K rev limit if that matters at all

But honestly I just want a truck that's a blast to drive and I think that 4.11 will get me where I want, but I don't want to regret not going more.

but it doesn't make sense to me that adding more acceleration makes me slower at speed?

4.10s and 30" tire here. Im turboed but it pulls badass.

I went from 3.23 and switched to 4.10. On my 28" radials it screams pretty good going down the highway.
I almost wish I just did 3.73. Def would not go 4.56 unless you rarely highway cruise

The difference between 4.11 and 4.56 on the 6l80 is 200~ rpm at 65, but what I'm concerned about is racing from 50+ mph would my truck be slower? I've never driven a low geared truck so I have no first hand experience.

I ran 4.56s, they pull great at most highway speeds, but you will run out of breath on top end. I found my 3.73s worked better all around.

With gearing of the 6 speed youll be better off with a 3.73 or 4.10 over 4.56, 4.56 would wind everything out fairly quickly and give you very little left at the top!!!

You'll generally always be faster with a numerically higher gear, but top speed will be lower.

I don't know how accurate the gear calculators are but this is what I got

So with 4.56 gears and 275/45/20 tires I would be at 91MPH at 7400RPM in 3rd

99MPH with 4.30 gears

104MPH with 4.11

I'm not at all interested in anything taller than 4.11 I want to be able to smoke the tires without trying I definitely want the fun factor of short gears I don't race much but this year I want to change that and I throw my truck around almost every time I drive it.

I only race with a small circle of people so far I'm third fastest out of 7 1st is a built 05 RST 408/t56/4.56 (he's still breaking this truck in so I'm just assuming he's gonna win he was #1 before the rebuild LS6/t56) 2nd is a 11 ram R/T Intake and tune (literally beats me by a hair and 2/10 I won) then me stock (220K) LY6/6l80 tune only

But I mean if I was to start at 50mph in 2nd I'd be at 5500rpm if it pulls hard to 90 top of third, we usually pull off around 110-120 then I'm thinking I should be long gone before I hit 4th

But I truthfully have no idea how it works in the real world and I just rambled a lot but if anyone can clear thing up for I would be very grateful

Edit: not sure if this would affect anything but, I also haven't done a single bolt on so the plan for the truck is
Gears

SE 1-7/8 LT headers

SE true dual X pipe exhaust I wanna run 2 X's and a pair of carven mufflers

AFE stage 2 momentum dry intake

Underdrive pulleys

Then once I finish all my bolt on's I'll be rebuilding the LY6 to a high compression 6.2 with a stealth cam

With the money that you're going to use/throw away here, you'd be better off with a Procharger. imo.

Never been a fan of the prochargers just sayin, I'll be spending around 2000 ~ 2500 in it when all is said and done which I could use to piece together a turbo system but I'm fufilling my dream of a RCSB Denali HD 6.2 :D
