Default 305/45/18 555R on 18x8.5" wheel for the street?

I know there are a couple Tundra guys running this combo at the track. Anyone here run this combo on the street and what their opinions were as far as stability and safety?
My truck is more of a weekend cruiser and I want something sticky on the street and at the track without swapping wheels all the time.

Thanks

you should be fine. i put them on 8" rim and it doesn't seem to affect handling. very good tire btw.

Thanks! I was going to run the least sticky 555R since they do pretty well mileage/traction wise on the street and should be good enough at the track for my current power level.

Bit the bullet and I am happy with the look/ride/performance so far.

nt05r are my next tire. they look stickier than the 555r. probably won't last nearly as long tho.

OP, keep an eye on you wear pattern and psi in those. Being squeezed on the rim like they are, you will likely have to keep the air pressure low in them. I had to keep the pressure ~25psi in mine and they were on 9.5" wide wheels and they still wore out the centers first. I am running the NT05R now and they are better than the 555R but not the end all to street traction.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

I tried to run them at the track Sunday and the tranny went full retard, but there is hope. I talked to Hypertech today and they make an inline speedo corrector that should fix the erratic transmission shifting and rev limit banging.
Picking the device up tomorrow from a local truck shop. Fingers crossed.

Good news is I was able to knock 2 tenths off my previous 60ft with these at 33PSI. So once I get the transmission straight I should be able to knock 2-3 tenths off my previous best ET.

I hate that there is no aftermarket for these trucks! Hypertech speedo device did not work.

I was so torn about having the drag radials dismounted today. I really liked the look and the added traction, but at this point I have exhausted my reasonable options. Being that's it's been 6 years now and no programmers, there isn't any sense letting them just sit and rot in the garage.

$400 and someone can have a super fresh set of drag radials.

right after I took them off the truck
