Default Are 2.02 valves overkill

I recently got a pair of 799 heads ported and polished with a valve job and upgraded to 2.02 valves. Are the 2.02 valves overkill on my 5.3? Currently has flat tops, 3,800 stall, nnbs intake, 4.30 gears, 233/239 cam .63x .62x @112

Maybe.

On a small bore 5.3, to large of a valve can hurt airflow into the cylinders, thus robbing it of power. I believe the term is 'shrouding'.

On a 6.0, where the bore is 4.0, it would probably benefit.

Same reason some people argue that ls3 heads on a 6.0 aren't beneficial.

Ls6 come from the factory with 2.00 valves but then again it is a bigger bore than the 5.3. Any recommendations guys? Trying to find a hollow stem valve for a 5.3

probably a little overkill for a 5.3, but I don't think it will hurt anything. It gives you some room to grow if you ever bolt them down to a 4" or larger bore.

Yeah that too, but did an overhaul and did everything I could to this 5.3 so a bigger motor will have to wait. Should've gone 6.0 but live and learn I guess

If you have them, run them. I would say the upgrade isn't worth it if you were going to have the work done, but it will be fine for now.

I ran the PRC 5.3 heads with 2.02 valves. I noticed a big difference in the top end
