walbro issue

I installed a 255 walbro ss340 last weekend into my 2004 silverado. Install went well and it fired right up and ran great. I went on a cruise today and the truck started acting like it was running out of fuel. I put ten gallons in and it is doing the same thing. Ill check fuel pressure off my rail tomorrow when i get the tool, but does anyone know of this issue with this pump? I have also heard that it could be a relay? the pump primes so its getting power. Figures after all that work a cheap pump would fail :sigh:

did you replace the hose from the pump to the top of the tank? check fuel pressure and report back

yes. Im pretty sure its the way i mounted the pump. I believe it jumped up higher than the fuel level and over heated. ill check pressure tomorrow.

checked fuel pressure today and im not even getting 1 psi. decompressed the valve and no fuel at all. assuming its the pump im going aeromotive 340.

what kind of hose did you use to replace the old one? if its not "submersible fuel line" it may have swollen shut..

I would bet its the hose in the tank as well

i doubt thats the right hose, the hose comes in a plastic bag pre-cut.. i had the same thing happen to me, it sucks, i know.

i would just re-use the factory plastic one, take your time and get it right, the second time i had to pull the bed i got pissed and got in a rush.

needless to say i had to pull the bed a third time because a wire was holding the float down and causing a "low fuel" light..

just speaking from my experience/mistakes

I asked for gates hose at autozone and asked if it was fuel submersible. Last time I trust an "expert". Glad to know I'm not the only one messing up. Ill look at napa for the right hose.
