Walbro GSL392 very noisy

Is it normal for the Walbro high pressure/flow pumps to exhibit a loud whining noise? Mine sounds like I've got e-fans on high, easily heard over the exhaust noise. It's an external fuel pump mounted to the frame rail under the driver's door. I used the foam sleeve to insulate it but that doesn't seem to help the noise.

It beats the Airtex in-tank pump to hell and back in terms of pressure, though. I've never had the FPR bleeding pressure during the pre-start KOEO procedure, the rail gets right up to 60psi in a split second.

Yep, definitely not quieter with age, but still performs like new.
