Default walbro 450 enough?

I'm shooting for 600hp on e-85.
s475 turbo
05 4.8
Return fuel system.
1000cc injectors
-8an feed
stock feed as return

You guys think a walbro 450 will be enough? Or should i toss a walbro 255 in the bucket along with it?

Thanks!

I would add a second pump as security. Pumps are cheaper then a motor.

My thoughts exactly. Any issue with mixing fuel pumps you think? 450 with a 255? I don't think i need two 450's.

I wanted to say I would just put 2x 450’s in there, but was short on time and didn’t get a chance to edit my post, but it’s better to have “extra” pump then cut it close with a smaller pump and since you will be on the corn juice, plus you could jet away with a few more HP if you choose to turn up the boost a bit more

I think you will be close, lower the pressure (if return style) to 45 psi and should be fine. You can also run a BAP. I had my single 450 and BAP to 650rwhp, 58 psi psi with 11 psi.

A single 450 would be fine for 600hp so long as it's getting decent voltage. I run my 450 pump with a BAP up to 90psi+ and it's been fine for hp into the 700s. I think 600 without the BAP and far lower pressure would be cake.

Just seems like your asking a lot out of that pump with high demands

Oh, I'm maxing it out and then some. To the point I'm adjusting the boost controller around the weather. But it works and has been working for a long time now.

The problem with 2 pumps is if one dies, you won't know. And if you're relying on that second pump for your fuel at full sing, you're in trouble. If you have only 1 pump and it dies, you're getting a tow with a bad pump rather than a tow with a bad pump and bad engine.

Little off topic. Is there not a way to get a signal when a pump goes dead. Like an idiot light? Seems like a good thing to have in a multi pump high horse power daily driver.

Not really, if there was the OEM’s would have incorporated this into vehicles by now I’m sure.

I have a idiot on my pillar when my pump comes on, the secondary pump can stop working just like a primary pump can. So I use the light as my fail safe. But keep in mind you don’t need the secondary pump unless you are boosting 24/7
