Stock replacement pump for stock junk
#11
seems like you've made up your mind already. You're correct, replacing the module is easy as can be. It's a 45-60 minute job with me lifting the bed up myself. I've got a nasty disdain for cheap parts, and especially anything chinese

Howbout answer E: none of the above
It'll be getting a Walbro 255 and I'll fix the sender... Should be plenty if I ever get dumb enough to want to change the engine in this thing... For the mean time it'll feed all 262ci of fury! Hopefully the truck is sold long before I ever have to put another one in it.

the only reason I didn't mention Walbro (or other high capacity aftermarket) is because I am unsure as to whether or not the factory fuel regulator can handle the extra flow. I don't have any experience with the 255 personally.

I've ran them with all stock systems otherwise with no issues. My turbo truck ran a bone stock fuel system minus a single 255 pump and 60lb injectors for a while when it was just a 70mm/5.3 on 8-10psi. Worked fine. Im just tired of working on this thing... Seems like I've been in/under it every day doing something for the past two weeks. Ready for it to just sit in the driveway and be there if I need it for a change

Well I'm a firm believer in that after bringing this truck out of an almost 3yr nap.
I've done brake calipers, pads, hoses
Engine belt
Fresh trans (the reason it was down to begin with)
Trans cooler, new lines.
Alternator
Battery
Starter
Flushed coolant
Flushed power steering
Diff oil change
Installed receiver hitch
Replaced trailer light wiring harness
Rear shocks
Now the awesome fuel pump
And naturally all new tags, inspection, insurance
None of this has been fun ****... Just expensive necessary ****.
Still on the list:
Tires
Front shocks
Radio
A/C

I've seen so many premature failures with Airtex pumps that I would never recommend anybody buy one under any circumstances.
Dig up the ACDelco or Delphi part # from Rockauto or wherever, and keep searching that part # til you find a deal on it - just be sure it's not a sub for that part # and is an actual ACDelco or Delphi being advertised.
They're not perfect either but have a far better track record. I hate changing fuel pumps.

ok, now that you're finished, i'll sell you my 2500HD for $2500.
LOL, JK. fuel pumps are one of those parts that will leave you or your wife stranded. I stick to delco. typically the assy comes with the connector and wants you to splice your factory harness for the new and improved connector.

It damn sure left me stranded last night with my boat in tow. Luckily it was close to the house. She'll never drive this thing again so I'm not concerned with that persay. Now you ******** have me all spooked about her truck lol. I didn't realize that's what I had installed until after the fact. If it ***** again, it'll get a Delco pump I guess. I never had an issue with my Walbro running. It would just lose prime if it sat more than a day or so. If this ones the same way so be it but I don't expect it to be.

My truck has had a bad habit of losing fuel pressure after sitting since ive owned it..... Ill change pump and thats how i know when its on its way out again!! Think im on my 6th pump this last one is a carter... The airtex before this one started with the drain off about 6 weeks after i put it in and lasted for about 3 years or so.... But ive had the carter for about 4.5 years now which sadly is probably the longest any pump has lasted..... Including the 4 delco units prior to the aftermarket pumps... Next one is going to ba a walbro... Found whole assembly with 255 for $155!!!
