@smokeshow Sorry I may have typed that weird. It is $1.10 CHEAPER than premium. If I wanted to say what you were thinking I would have put a comma #justenglishthings
Also $5 for E-85 is a highway robbery lol I would never run it at that price I don't think. E-15 is the worst scam ever too. $.05 cheaper than regular and the mileage hit was no bueno.
There is only 1 station here but there are 3 more coming. So his monopoly is about to end. When I run E I usually only get about 72 or 74%, the mileage loss is about 15% but that might be because I use the E as intended. Lol.
To get a rough idea if it makes $/mile sense to run E85 over premium is to take the price of E85, multiply it by 1.33, and if that number is still less than the price of premium, you will come out ahead with E85 from a $/mile perspective. If after you multiply E85 price by 1.33, that number is higher than the cost of premium, then you’re better off running premium, purely from a $/mile standpoint. The idea is that due to the stoich difference between E85 and regular gas, theoretically you should burn 33% more E85 than you would gasoline.
For example, looking at GasBuddy the prices at my local station are as follows:
When I multiply the price of $2.49 E85 by 1.33, I come up with $3.31. $3.31 is less than the price of $4.04 premium, so from a $/mile perspective, I came out ahead with E85 versus the premium gasoline.
