Default Meth Failsafe

Has anyone out there used a methanol failsafe? I have been debating simply putting a flow gauge on it, but it would be cool to have some sort of failsafe mechanism as well.

Back when I was using meth, I used an extra coolant overflow tank to hold it. I had intentions of using the low coolant float wiring to wire to the valet mode of EFI Live. When the meth ran low, it would only run to a desired RPM like 3500 or so. I never hooked it up because I changed setups, but I don't see why it wouldn't have worked.

EFI has a valet mode? And that doesnt help you if the meth isnt spraying for some reason.

I am looking into options to control the wastegate or something...

Could use a pressure switch to solenoid to the wastegate, depending on how you have it plumbed.

When meth is "on", failsafe relay gets power. When the pressure is adequate (lets say >100psi), pressure switch that is normally closed is open. So if its on and >100psi nothing happens, but if it is on and <100 the switch is now closed. You could use this to control a solenoid that is a bleed to the top port on the wategate. Wont take you down to 0psi, but would reduce you to spring pressure assuming you are using the top gate port.

hmm... still wont solve the issue of having the tune in that range being somewhat dependent on meth.

Your tune at 6psi should not be the same as at 20psi or whatever you are running.

Instead of cutting boost you could play tricks with the iat sensor circuit or something to cut a bunch of timing if the pressure switch opens.

Or you could just watch your wideband like everyone else does

Have it so when the meth pressure drops below 100psi a spring loaded fist releases and punches you in the face.

Quite honestly I'm not asking for my own truck. I'm asking so when I tune other people's cars they don't hurt them if something goes south.

AEM has a failsafe kit that can trigger a light or buzzer. It uses a pressure sensor to trigger I believe.
