Default Lose pressure through return

Ok... 01 Silverado built lq9, 243 heads stainless valves ect... 600 lift truck cam.. 9 inch fabricated aluminum intake 102mm tb.. Using stock fuel lines with 6an adapters, billet fuel rails. The fuel system doesn't hold fuel pressure after the fuel pump shuts off... unless I clamp the return line shut.

Did you read the instructions that came with the regulator? Majority of regulators are not designed to hold pressure when the engine is not running and it even says so.

I know mine doesn’t. Does it start OK

Default Yep

It starts fine, no Instructions came with the fpr. I had a feeling that perhaps it was normal, but this is my first build like this so I wasn't sure. I appreciate the info! Now I've gotta figure out the running rich issue... paid a tuner to bench tune my ecu for my 8.1 marine 60lb injectors...blue ones off eBay, not sure he got the tune right maybe bad info for injectors idk... But I bought HP Tuners so I can teach myself how to do it and get it right.

What base fuel pressure did you tell him? And what’s your base set at?

Default Base

I set base at 58 as per factory... but in the tune it looks like he may have set it for 42. I don't remember if he asked me or I told him even it's been awhile, but the truck is running so rich it is putting black soot out the exhaust... long tubes and 3 inch dual exhaust... and depositing fuel into the crankcase
