E85 injectors and fuel pump

Guys I’ve read through some posts but nothing hits the nail. I want to run e85 and have gotten 2 opinions at local shops.

450 walbro with 50lb injectors

or

255 walbro with 60lb injectors

I already have the 255 walbro installed I just want to know if anybody can vouch for the 255 60lb injector combo ? Thanks guys

Mods: 6.0 fbo h/c/I

I'd just get larger injectors.

Getting 50 or 52 lb/hr flex fuel injectors from a newer truck should be all you need. Using FIC's injector calculator, 50's would support 500whp on a NA build and you won't make anything near that on just a heads cam 6.0.

thanks for the feed back, I’m aware hp wise shouldn’t be a problem it’s just the added volume of fuel needed and if the 255 will push enough.

It should be enough. The other calculator I use says that 450ish horsepower needs around 220-230 LPH on E85.

Most stations never have true E85 either, more like E70ish. I'm from Minnesota too, corn fields and E85 is everywhere pretty much.

And to add to the above, federal law allows down to 51% ethanol content and it can still be labelled as E85 @ the pump. Typically fuel manufacturers lower the ethanol content in winter to help with starting in extremely low temperatures.

Port injection NA you aren't going to pick up much. DI or boosted- def worth the upgrade

Long as I don’t loose power I don’t mind trying it.

Using Atomic's spreadsheet, flow of 60lb injectors @80% dc and a Walbro 255 cross at ~55psi yielding ~240l/hr fuel flow. This is only good for ~390hp on E85. Same combo is good for ~550 on gasoline (which is accurate from my experience).

I am of the thought above that E85 is not very beneficial with a mild 6.0 NA setup unless you are running some wild compression (12:1 or higher).

I only picked up 6 rwhp and 4rwtq on a LS3/TR6060 setup on E75% vs 93oct.
CNC LS3 Heads
227/234 cam
Ported/Rodded intake
Ported LS3 TB
1-7/8" headers

We are going to test it on 250 shot on 93 and on E75 or whatever pump E is at the time.
