2016 Silverado low pressure fuel pump plumbing

Is the purpose of the venturi device on the bottom of the pump to pull in cool fluid and mix it with the warm motor coolant reducing the temperature and vapor pressure? Must be. What’s the silver thing for? Vacuum breaker?

Can’t get the pictures to load, sorry. Hopefully you know what I’m talking about. The venturi is a little plastic device attached at the bottom of the pump. The driver looks to be motor coolant return and it pulls from the bucket. The silver thing is a top hat shaped about 1” metal device mounted on top of the bucket with a dip tube going about half way down.

Normally, the purpose of a venturi is to pull fuel into your bucket preventing pump starvation and can double as cooling the pump. Put up some pics. Im interested to see inside one of these. Without seeing it, I will bet the "silver" thing is your pressure regulator.

For some reason I can’t get pictures to upload. Browse, select, upload, nothing. Anyway, the venturi definitely does not pull from outside the bucket. I took the metal piece out, it is connected to the top of the cooling can which is fed from pump discharge and exhausts down into the bucket. Must be overpressure protection. The pressure is controlled on demand by the PWM, correct?
