tundra 1/4's

What kinda times are you toyota tundra guys running in the stock 5.7's?

Snacktime 06-18-2008 08:05 PM

standard cab 2x4 14.0-14.2

Crewcab 4x4 14.8-15

Last time I checked up on them, there are one or two on here that might chime in.

v8 06-18-2008 09:19 PM

if it was a stock one, i believe he is stock and a nitrous kit, but i dont know how much he is spraying?

sonoma43 06-19-2008 04:09 PM

those are pretty respectable times, for a stock truck. of course I heard they are runnin 4.30 gears and they are like 380hp? Pretty good though for a stock truck these days!

RandomHero 06-19-2008 04:15 PM

LOL, it's funny this thread popped up. There was a tundra saleman at home depot doing a promo. I was chatting with him about how the 5.7 was a pretty badass engine. I told him that most tundras were running 14 flats and crew cabs were running high 14s. He told me that the single cabs were down to 13.2s and the crews were down to 13.9s. I laughed and ended the conversation there.

sonoma43 06-19-2008 06:00 PM

hmm thats interesting......low 13's on a stock "work truck" i'll believe that when I see it, well apparently that means that those hemi's are running low 14's then eh?? ha what a joke....salesman they are like lawyers lie their ass off to get you to buy into it.:D

Parke10 06-20-2008 03:27 AM

sounds like the salesman that told me that chargers are down to 8.2 now.. if a charger does 8.2 stock , im selling my truck and buying a couple of em.

stock48 06-20-2008 04:28 AM

The reg cabs run mid to low 15's, and the crew's run 16's up hear in Co.

m3srt 07-12-2008 03:39 AM

no way over here in houston i saw a completley stock rcsb 5.7 run 13.8

On a 13 sec truck you will run at least full second slower hear at Bandimere 5800' elevation. I have seen stock ls7 Zo6's not be able to get out of the 13's hear in the summer.

outlawz2004 07-12-2008 06:57 AM

In north Louisiana I saw a bone stock reg cab go 14.1 on its first pass. The truck was about two weeks old.

i believe he is spraying a 125 wet kit.

Slay0r 09-22-2011 11:18 PM

im sure that RCSB had a TRD blower on it to get it to 12.8 if it did run it. they'll get them above 500+hp

94f150 09-25-2011 08:13 PM

I think with trac off and stab off and launching/ shifting right a rcsb can get into mid 13s.

I work on them they are preety impressive. I should have got one but I bought a 11gmc instead:D

socaliallstar82 09-26-2011 04:50 PM

RCSB- 13.8-14.2 N/A 12.8-13.0 S/C
Double Cab- 14.5-14.8 N/A 13.0-13.3 S/C
Crewmax- 14.8- 15.2 N/A 13.3-13.5 S/C

And we trap anywhere from 95-97 stock N/A and 106-108 S/C. However there are a few factory freaks out there that runner faster than they should. But I'm sure that's with any brand.

Double Cab- 14.5-14.8

Yes....

95-97 stock N/A

Yes...

When my dc 4x4 tundra tundra was stock I had to struggle with the right 2wd launch to even get into the 14s with the electronic nannies holding everything back. I could launch in 4wd and be in the low 14s. Keep in mind that now with mods on the tundra I have seen as low as a 13.8 on the g tech with consistent bottom 14s.

The deal with the tundra is that it will come out of the hole (off the line) very hard on a 4wd launch, but not do anything all too impressive after that (compared to other comparable full sized trucks). That coming out of the hole would really make my silverado look stupid racing off the line against a tundra launching in 4wd (gtech 6.1 for silverado and 5.0 for tundra to 60) and that explains the 1 second difference in the quarter for trucks that accelerate about the same after that.

My siverado with the 6.2 will not come out of the hole (off the line) very well, but will hold it's own (if not beat) the tundra after that. The best gtech I have on my silverado is a 14.8 and that is with a vararam intake, ported tb, and 87 octane diabloport tune. I would expect it to be slightly better on the 92 octane tune, but not more than 2-3 tenths. I'm generally pretty disappointed in the silverados performance so far...as it is 200 lbs lighter than the tundra so I might have to get a set of long tubes and a real dyno tune to get to where I want to be at the mid to high 13s in the silverado.

homeboys 4door stock just flowmaster hit 14.4's

1siktoy 12-14-2011 12:11 PM

My double cab Tundra with exhaust on 22" ran 9.6 in the 1/8 mile we don't have a local 1/4

G-Tech...lol...that is embarassing to even mention for people that actually go to the drag strip...

If it ain't a slip it ain't worth talking about...

A buddy of mine has a DC Tundra and that thing is no slouch for the few mods he has on it. If he could get it to dead hook he might actually get into the 13s with just CAI, no rear cats and a muffler swap with turn downs. I think his best time is a 14.12@98. Here is a video of him running 14.27 but listen to him spin out of the hole...yes I know that VHO was in a coma at the light.

The gtech "IS" a great tuning tool to compare mods and is suprisingly accurate. I compared it at the track and was within .08 seconds on my high 11 second tt supra back about 2000. The mph was high by 4 mph or so though but this is most likley due to the track averaging your speed over the last 60 feet instead of the actual speed at the end of the track. I am not new to the drag racing scene, but my nearest track is 100 miles away so I don't spend much time there and I have a family and other things to do on the weekends. I got out of the fast car scene a few years ago when I caught myself racing 140+ in my built terminator with my 2 year old in the back seat. That was the time for me to grow up and not put my kid in harms way because I "had" to race.

whats faster your 6.2 or your 5.7?

edit: haha didnt read your full sig.

Luke03 12-22-2011 08:47 PM

Get a real tune and some headers on that 6.2l and it will really wake up. Hand held timers don't really do much IMO.

Tundras are great trucks and quick to. Wish GM would put a 6.2l in a regular cab but it won't happen.

Thanks Man, First posting here.. I'm from San Diego, CA.. just 725 miles West of you! -LOL
I'm going to step up the Mod with a possible NOX kit. Just a safe low 75 dry shot.. Next local races for me is March 23 (Friday night 1/8th mile suck runs). The 1/4 mile track is a rare treat that's a 2 hour one way trip..
