Default Is this a Ford Problem, too?

Last week, after letting my 2009 GMC sit for close to three weeks, I was greeted with a dead battery. Talking with the dealer and reading various forums, it seems that this is to be expected because of the number of computers that are constantly drawing power. Among my GM Brethren, I seem to be alone in thinking this is completely unacceptable when dealing with a new, unmodified, vehicle and I am thinking about jumping ship and moving over towards Ford.

Any one experienced a dead battery in their newer Ford after letting their truck sit for a couple of weeks? The electronics guy I spoke to today said that I should expect problems if my GMC sits for as little as a week and a half. My GF has never has this problem with her Sport Trac and it has sat for over a month in airport parking lots.

A trickle charger is not an option for me. Especially when the truck sits at the airport.

If I did buy a Ford, I'd be looking at something along the lines of a 07-10 F150 CCSB 4x4.

Sounds like if you could use a trickle charger you would.Ok, since thats not a option it would be damn near same work to pull the battery cable."problem solved"

I dont think thats just GM...Nearly every newer automobile is going to experience some sort of energy drawing off of the battery at all times.

it seems wierd to me. I know this is not new but my 2001 tahoe has sat for 3 months before and started up just fine when i started it. I know that this is not as new as you are talking about but It still has many things running that would draw power. I would recommend just getting a large powerful battery. I always have got the biggest ca and cca batterys that would fit.

How often do the dealerships go out and start every vehicle on the lot? I know they don't sit there with the battery unhooked.

My pop's '07 Dodge has done this 3 times, he almost turned it over for a NNBS Denali because of it.
