new ford 6.2L v8

hew does anyone have any info on the new 6.2L v8 that's in the new superdutys and raptors? such as; is it related to the current mod. series?, is it related to the new 5.0l?

i cant ask ford because nobody knows. (i know this because i work at a ford dealer. when the ford reps came out they didn't give any info on the mech. side of the motors. just the sales side.)

I was wondering how they run too.

very curious too as I've heard they need A LOT of help to get moving.

sidenote: that raptor prototype they were running in the desert sounded like a BEAST

A customer of mine has a new Raptor and tells me it scoots just fine. It is a badass looking truck from the front. Not sure about interchangeability though.

We have one in a work truck at work, I think our 05 6.0 gmc will outrun it an out pull it. Just my opinion thou, I know the mpg are better in the gmc pulling and not pulling. The tranny in the ford is sweet thou.

it's based on the same motor as thr current 5.4, with an improved block BUT the heads and intake are way different

I drove a harley with the 6.2 the other day and it felt sluggish compared to my 08 with the supercharger on it, eventhough horsepower/torque are close. I'm making 30 or so more than the new 6.2. Personally, the ecoboost v6 felt quicker than the 6.2, I'm sure most of that has to do with having 400 ft-lbs from 2000 to redline and the 6.2 not making peak torque until 4500 rpm

Ford's new 6.2 is a hoss. It feels similar to the old V10 in the super duties (not as much off-idle grunt though). Having driven both GM's and Fords 6.2s in the 1/2 ton trucks, Ford's 6.2 impressed me more as a truck engine. Most noticable in the low end.... ford's 6.2 has more off-idle to mid range grunt. Top end (4k+ rpm) they feel the same.

As for the details, everything is pretty much clean sheet design. The new 5.0 is almost purely old modular based with an upgraded top end. The 6.2 uses almost nothing from the old modulars.

ok...well I was nevr impressed with v10. Alot contradictory so far. A friend trove a new 6.2 f250 and said it felt similar to my 03 2500 hd 6.0. It should take off better with 2 extra gears I would hope.
