99 F150 manual transmission swap
#1
HI: I'd like to swap my auto trans for a manual. Has anyone performed this swap? I'm wondering parts are interchangable, what electrical hassles I'll encounter, etc.
I'm aware they made manual transmissions for the 6 cylinder trucks, so pieces like a factory shifter, clutch pedal, etc exist, but is a 6 cylinder transmission going to bolt in? will it be strong enough? should I use a transission from a Mustang, or other source? I'm not sure if it'll bolt to the engine block or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It really depends on the transmission that u swap in. a friend of mine just did this swap on a 93 with a 302 and it went well. Im not sure if u have a electronic tranny, if u do it would pose some problems. If you find a 5 speed manual tranny from a 87-96 ford 150 or 250, it should fit. The 302 and 351 have the same bolt pattern but the 460 is different. The tranny u are lookin for is a M5od.
