Will boosted engine destroy rear end
 

I'm in the process of building an lq4 turbo charged engine with a built 4l60e I'm curious bout the rear end will it hold up it's an 04 z71 1500 with 22 inch rims and 33 by 12.5 tires am I gonna have axle or ring and pinion issues

Axles, ring and pinion will be fine. The stock differential will go.

Who makes good difs or dif parts

Lots of people are boosting with the stock 10 bolt. You can improve it's lifespan with a good diff, strong diff cover/girdle, and even trac bars. I'm guessing your 60E will die way before the rear end.

if your shooting for performance I would ditch the rims.... but your style is your own, when building any performance your going to find the weak parts ... its not a matter of what parts will hold the power... its what parts are known weak ... ie 4l60e ect... next is going to be a continual game of weak parts breaking and being replaced ... if your going to start giving your truck some power there are some things to know... your truck is heavy so brakes will be strained... more power means more heat so your going to need to cool your engine better ... trans cooler possibly lower t-stat 160ish if you dont have emissions to worry about the 190 stats in the nnbs are in there for buring the emissions away. If you lower that temp you can squeeze a little bit more timing ect in than without and you add a little safety ... your drive shaft , ujoints, breaks and transmission will all have alot more stress on them and may last or most likely will fail... if your just going for 5 lbs of boost ... then dont worry about most of those parts just change / replace them as they break

My pos 10 bolt is holding up fine after years of boost and low end grunt ,
The Tcase helps it live for sure though , 2wd and slicks I think would def shorten the life span though .

If it makes you feel better though the NBS trucks have larger bearings in them vs the older 10 bolts that were in cars . They are little stronger , and like said I have added a tru-trac and stronger diff cover with bearing cap support bolts that def don't hurt anything .
