Whipple Owners
I'm looking at picking up and old non intercooled side mount whipple to use on a future 5.3/6.0 swap into an older truck. I don't know a whole lot about them other than I will delete their electronics and run my own injectors and tune.
Being that they aren't intercooled, whats their power and boost potential? The truck will be a cruiser and the blower will be used to boost torque. No track or road racing, won't be a DD. I don't think I would add meth or an IC. AW |

I helped a friend put one on his 2500hd...they get pretty hot, but as long as you keep it below 8-10psi you should be fine.

Do you remember what kind of power he made?

My old 2003 chevy 2500hd 4x4 with the 6.0 and a side mount whipple made408hp and 465ish tq on the dyno. no intercooler only other mod on the truck was magnaflow exhaust.

on 7-8 psi

Thanks. I assume you towed a lot with your HD? No detonation issues?

I'm Atomics friend with the Kenne bell side mount, running about 6-7 lbs on 35" tires, non intercooled with just electric fans and a drop in magnaflow. I'd say it's probably 380-410 how it sits. I need to get it on the dyno when I get back home in August.
I'd like to somehow figure out a way to run an IC, and I also want to swap cams and do full exhaust etc |
I had no issues racing in the south Georgia summer heat. Never raised the boost. I don't believe Whipple provides any support for these blowers anymore (smaller pulleys, etc) so you may have troubles getting more boost if so desired.
