Whats the best size blower for a 434? 2.8 or 3.6 KB?

Whats the best size Kenne Bell blower for a 434LSX motor? Im planning on running around 6-8psi on the motor for now. How will the 3.6 react running that low of boost? Which would make more AVERAGE power at the 6-8psi range the 2.8 or 3.6?

The experts will tell you to use the smaller blower. A 2.8L t'screw will just be getting warmed up at 8psi on a 434. If you have thoughts of huge power numbers, the bigger blower wouldn't do a bad job at 8psi though. If you want to do it once and cover all your bases, use the bigger one. If you're looking for the most effecient blower at 8psi on a 434, the smaller one would probably be better.

Why such little boost on an LSX? what's your power goal?

Im not shooting for any crazy numbers right now but eventually I will want to turn up the boost and push this motor, just most likely not while its in my Denali. I'm considering the larger blower right now due to the fact I know I will eventually push my setup but I don't want power to suffer because Im not running the more effecient blower.

How much of a HP/TRQ difference between the 2.8 and the 3.6 would there be at 8 psi?

The compression is around 10.5:1 which is the main reason I'm running low boost. The motor was built to make a lot of power/torque N/A and a little boost for the motors just going to wake it up even more. I would like to be close to the 600whp.

Heres a picture of the 3.6 being test fit on my motor

600 will be sofa king easy. I bet it will surprise you.

it will make close to 600 without the belt on the blower lol not quite but yeah it will make that at like 6 psi.

you should be able to knock on 10's door with that turned up . your going to need an 80e for sure.

If have access to the kit do it. Last I talked the KB they were no longer supporting our engine platform. ?
So u might check with them to confirm they will support the set up if somehing happens.

I already blew up a couple built 4l65's with my last setup so a built 4l85 is already in the truck.

I would love to hit 10's but I'll be happy if it runs in the 11's.

Your correct they don't make a kit for the truck platform anymore. I will be modfiying a 3.6 2010 Camaro kit.

Well it looks like I am going to go with the 3.6. I found a good article that put out by Kenne Bell that answered most of my questions.

talk to Jeff @ Total Performance Engineering (702 632 0270)
he's the one who does all the Kenne Bell stuff for GM engines. i spent about an hour on the phone with him last week about my C5 vette. he definitely knows his stuff - he's the one who worked the development for their GM products.

you will be more than happy with that blower on that motor. the nice thing is from whats been said is the blower for the camaro used the same belt offset so thats huge step out of the install. next will be a serious belt drive. id go with a 10 rib maybe 12 on all . rather than a dedicated drive or cog . this will allow some slip and not strain all the pullies to death. tensioner will be the next hopefully the kb setup will work.

keep us posted im really interested to see how this comes out i dont know why i like the kb and whipples so much . the kb is just a sexy looking piece.
