venting crankcase
well i took my truck out for a quick ride the other day and blew the dipstick out and soaked the engine with oil :bang:
so whats the best way to vent the crankcase |
ditch the pvc and do a catch can
Mine did the same thing when I was on a d1sc. I have a catch can that I welded a couple hose barbs in so that it connects directly with each stock valve cover. It's an aluminum can with a breather on top. I'm not using it so if you want it let me know.

Did you install a one way check valve in the Pcv? Did not you are putting boost in the crank case.
soooo much to cleaannnn.
why not just get a oil fill with a filter on it and cap off the original vent location?
I just posted up some pictures of the catch can in my thread. I ran 3/8 hose from both valve covers to it
How is your current pcv system setup?
I would ditch the PCV valve all together. You can weld/plug the port on the tb and run the lines to a catch can. you'll also need to plug the port on the intake.
Filers are on a catch work great. You can always add a line from the catch can before the TB (or turbo inlet) to pull a little vacuum at idle to suck the catch can smell. here's a few photos of my setup http://alphatuning.com/TurboTruck/Truck-019.jpg http://alphatuning.com/TurboTruck/Truck-007.JPG |
I have a vented catch can attached to my drivers side valve cover (I drilled out the Pcv valve). And I have a line from my air filter to the passenger valve cover to pull vacuum on the crankcase under boost.
