Tvs1900 need advice on injections and fuel pump
 

Hi I have a tvs1900 on my stock 5.3 motor. I am running a 3.2 pulley and was told by my tuner I could not run E85 because I wouldn't be able to flow enough with my factory setup. It was a factory flex fuel truck. What injectors and fuel pump should I get? Also is there anything else I should get it is a daily driver and I do tow with it a bit.

A walbro 450 should supply enough fuel, you'll likely want an aftermarket regulator to make sure you maintain roughly 58psi of fuel pressure.

The stock FF pump can do like 500-550hp on pump gas, E85 will pull that power output down and it may not be large enough for you. Of course that power figure varies depending on turbo/supercharger setup and how rich/lean the calibration is setup.

I think the factory injectors are something like 38lb/hr if I recall, go with double that size if you ask me. Go with some 60's or 72lb/hr injectors to make sure you have the headroom. Using an injector calculator here, if you wanted 550-600 crank horsepower you'd need injectors about in the 55lb/hr range. So going just a hair larger is suggested and that's pretty much where most of the aftermarket injector companies rate they injectors.

Deatchwerks, Fuel injector clinic, fuel injector connections should all have injectors in those sizes with data.

^^ What he said. I have a 2.3L Whipple on a stock 6.2L and the 50 lb injectors they supplied were not quite enough. Didn't go lean but duty cycle was maxed. Ended up putting in 72 lb Deatchwerks, who also supplies good injector data. Plenty of injector and some room to grow. My stock flex fuel pump is keeping up so far. Your mileage may vary.

How much did your mileage change on yours when you changed injections?

Get a set of at least 70lb an hour, I went with ID105 and love them. Idle is great so is drivability, mileage is not bad...

If it’s tuned right mileage won’t change. The injector only sprays what it’s asked to spray.

TVS1900 on a 4.8 Liter, using Delphi 17113739 injectors, spec at 42 Lb/Hr @ 58psi
AKA "8.1 Marine" injectors.

Best fuel economy I have seen is 13.4 mpg, driving at night in fog/rain.
More usual mileage ranges from 11.0 to 12.5.
