Turbo silverado cold start up smoke. Please help
My friend has a 04' Silverado 5.3L (110K mi) with a front mount T76mm turbo (brand new). Only on cold start ups he get smoke (oil/blue) out of the tail pipe. Once the truck warms up the smoke is gone and doesnt smoke again. The PCV system is vented to the atmosphere. The oil feed is at 12 o clock position with oil restrictor and the oil return flow freely. He is running 10w-30 M1 oil. I cant figure out why he is smoking on cold start ups only. The truck is running 8.75 PSI and runs really strrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

How many miles has he put on it with the turbo? My brand new turbo smoked as well but stopped after awhile.

Could be valve seals

Might just be from the new turbo.. However if there is some sort of restriction in the return line it could blow oil past the seals in the turbo, created the smoke.. If you say all the PCV stuff is good, run it some more, see if it goes away imo...

I want to put a breather on the oil cap but I cant because of the turbo A/R housing in the way.
