supercharged vortec max

Hey guys, just have a quick question here. I bought a used supercharged vmax from a dealership here. It has a magnacharger tvs 1900. The truck is fast but it doesn't have the tire roasting power I was thinking it would. You have to literally try to get this truck to spin a tire. Could this just be that it is tuned conservatively or is that just how these trucks are? Just doesn't feel like it has the bottom end power I think it should have. It doesn't feel like it's getting any boost until about 3000 rpms.

What gears do you have? What pulley size on the blower? What size wheels?

3:73 gears, it has the factorty ltz 20s with 275/55/20 tires. The pulley size, I'm assuming is the basic one that comes with the kit. Says 6 psi of boost. This is the kit I have

Intresting. What trans, A6?

I'm guessing the 4 speed... right around when the 6 speed came out in the half tons other than the Denali they also upgraded to the 6.2 from the 6.0 and ditched the vortec max badges.

There is a short list of mods you can do to make this thing scream the way you imagined, and then some. Pulley, Headers, and tune. I'd aim to bump it up to about 9-10# and get the headers to help it breathe. That and a tune will net you over 100 HP.

Where are you from?

Agreed. Simple formula for success, really. You should be able to light them up all the way down the block with some more boost, tune and exhaust. The Vortec Max's are heavier with more drivetrain losses but these small obstacles can be overcome.

I bet it has a lot of TM still in the tune

blownVmax Sep 20, 2013 09:54 AM

Thanks for the answers guys. It already has long tubes but I would like more boost and get it tuned. I think the guy who owned it before me had it tuned conservatively. The shift pressures and all, it just drives like a stock truck with a little boost

Was it a custom tune or just the hand held that comes with the supercharger kit? It's got to be the tune. My single cab will spin the tires from a dead stop punch to 30ish

Tq management I believe, I'm pretty new to the ls world so idk all the details :sigh:

I have 3.1" and 2.8" pulleys for sale if you're interested.
